I find skulls absolutely fascinating. They’re so useful as an artist as a learning tool, to help understand the physiology of an animal, its structure and how to better represent that animal.
This is my first skull etching, a rabbit, that I found on a walk with the children a while back. Not knowing the animal that it came from, both the children decided it must be from some unknown, scary, meat eating animal with its huge pointed front teeth. I’m still not entirely convinced they believed me when I said it was a rabbit.
Line etching and Aquatint. 4.5” x 10.5”
